Effective naming and identification of elevators is critical to the overall success of a comprehensive wayfinding program. Patient and visitor elevators should be clearly identified. In complex environments with multiple elevator banks it is important to visually separate public from staff-only elevators and when possible define elevator banks by building or major destinations they serve. Integrating colors and graphics with elevator names will help the patient and visitor audience clearly identify the correct elevator for their destination and aid in recall when exiting your facility.
